About

Why this Association?

As Reformed Baptists, we recognize our common union with all the saints under Christ Jesus our head; yet we will enjoy deeper fellowship with those who share convictions, especially those placed in providential proximity (2LCF 26.14-15). We see a great benefit to those churches in Central Florida, many of whom already enjoy informal fellowship, in formalizing that fellowship and inviting other like-minded congregations for mutual edification and common mission.

Who can join?

This association will consist of churches that hold to the inerrancy of Scripture as their final rule of faith and practice, and also fully subscribe to the 2nd London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 (2LCF) as their doctrinal standard. The elders of these churches will teach and promote every doctrine expressed in the 2LCF, while allowing liberty and charity over minor matters of nuance and application.

Where is the association?

The central region of Florida stretches coast to coast, from St. Petersburg to Melbourne, Crystal River to Ormond Beach, and everything in between. We exist to allow local churches to associate with those closest to them and speak to particular and regional needs, encouraging fellowship by removing barriers of distance. This association is not meant to compete with or supersede other networks or associations, but to meet a local and relational need among brothers, to complement what these churches are already doing.

What is the purpose of the association?

To glorify God in promoting faithfulness in worship, doctrine, pastoral ministry, and equipping the saints by:

  • Commendation: through mutual trust and agreement, we can recommend local churches and direct discerning saints to them, offering additional accountability and recognition.
  • Communion: through regular communication and meetings, we will establish and grow fraternal relationships among pastors and churches through the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace.
  • Consolation: through regular encouragement and prayer for our sister congregations, we can comfort one another in our labors, lifting up our brothers before the throne of grace.
  • Cooperation: through joining together in shared local ministries such as education, conferences, evangelism, and church planting, as well as supporting each other’s missions and efforts.
  • Counsel: through the shared wisdom of a multitude of counselors, we can assist each other in navigating the particular opportunities, needs, and difficulties of our congregations.

How do churches associate?

Churches join the association by the recommendation of member churches. A formalized process whereby churches can apply by disclosing their theology, practice and philosophy of ministry. We associate voluntarily with mutual appreciation and respect. While recognizing the independency of each congregation, we will emphasize the interdependency of faithful congregations to one another. Our bond will be fidelity and trust among friends. For the foreseeable future this will not include any financial obligations. There is also an opportunity for associate membership for pastors in various stages of reformation.

When does the association gather?

We hold quarterly meetings for fellowship and encouragement centered around practical topics of pastoral ministry. While these meetings are voluntary, they will be encouraged and at least two per year are required for association and continued fellowship. Occasional events will be hosted by sister churches and open to all member churches. But regular communication and resources will be shared through a private WhatsApp channel for elders year-round.

If this defines your church, we hope you will prayerfully consider this opportunity and share it with your elders and congregation.
